the world has a huge plastic problem, we have a tiny solution.

single use and plastic pollution is a well documented issue and it has fully become a crisis that affects us all. Discarded plastic either sits unmoving in a landfill for hundreds of years or ends up polluting the environment.

there’s a patch of plastic 2X the size of Texas floating in the ocean, once pristine beaches are littered with single-use plastic, wild and marine life are choking on our plastic trash. And only a small percentage of that plastic is recycled.

( r e ) ˣ is changing that by designing sustainable hangers made with 100% recycled plastic collected from ocean and ocean-bound plastic with our partners in South Africa.

( r e ) ˣ  was born from the necessity to reduce the world’s consumer footprint, starting with single-use plastics. While it’s nearly impossible not to consume at least some plastic products, we wanted to find options for everyday items and turn them into an opportunity to take plastic out of the environment and ultimately eliminate the need for new plastic altogether.

Like us, our manufacturing partner, Ocean Plastic Technologies, is dedicated to caring for the planet through their material sourcing, manufacturing processes, and procedures. With their “Earth First” ethos we knew they were the perfect partner to launch this project.

We are also thrilled to have our packaging hand printed and assembled by a single mom’s group in South Africa.

the strongest and most eco-friendly hanger available ( r e ) designed

a ( r e ) ˣ hanger will never have to occupy space in a landfill. How’d we do it?

  • 1. we started by increasing the overall thickness by 50% for lasting durability and load strength.

  • 2. we increased the vertical strength of the pant bar adding extra width (from ¼” to ½”) to hold heavier garments.

  • 3. in a nod to our ocean origins, our garment hooks are inspired by fish hooks and capable of securing any article of clothing. 

  • 4. a reinforced bridge gives you the freedom to push, pull and cram your hangers into your closet without fear of them snapping into pieces.
