trump vs The National Parks

Well hello there.

I’ve been seeing a lot more dog shit on my daily walks.

At first glance, I thought “wHaT tHe hEll is wrong with people” but then — after those blissful few seconds of brain freedom — I remember who’s ‘leading’ this country.

My shoulders slump and the feelings come rushing back: Defeat. Fear. Hopelessness. Emptiness.

But here’s the thing. That’s how “they” want you to feel.

I know that sounds a little conspiracy theory-ish. But when you feel like this, you do nothing.

Historically, no dictator has ever grasped the power of empathy, love, and resilience.

That's why it's so incredibly important to find the good. Find something you believe in and stick to it.

Tune into what's going on but focus on action - ignore the mights, coulds, & he saids.

Ignore what is said and focus on real action.

I mean, we are talking about a C-list entertainment media ‘celebrity’ who is outmatched by toddlers in understanding how the brain-mouth filter works.

Like our blog this month. 'HE' said he wants to clear national parks and drill on the land.

Can he? Who knows.

Will he? Who knows.

All we can do is focus on what has been done:

  • firing National Park & Forest Service staff
  • engaging in conversations to drill in the parks

Remember, there is so much good in the world. People are kind. We can sustainably fight.

As always, shop hangers that do some good.

april's sustainable superstar: Mari Medina

Mari Medina, founder of April Knit & sustainable knit expert

I love learning how people combine their passions with sustainability and I am blown away by Mari Medina! (of whom I learned about on the Conscious Life & Style Podcast).

A fellow Latina in the fashion industry, she helps show fashion brands and startups incorporate high-quality and sustainable knit wear pieces into their brand. So much of the fashion industry is knowing the right people and Mari has built an extensive network of artisans and can walk a brand from concept to finished product.

Most importantly, everything is done with sustainability and ethics in mind. Not only does she partner with fairly paid artisans, she works with a brand to develop designs that align with their creativity and offer a path to sustainable growth.

If you’ve never worn a high-quality piece of knitwear — I suggest you start researching it for your next investment piece!

on the blog for april: what's happening to national parks under trump

my family enjoying Joshua Tree National Park in 2025

Presidents used to protect parks.

That's literally how we got National Parks.

Now we have one who’s gutting them via the plan in Project 2025 he said he didn’t know anything about 🙃. As someone who actively spends as much time as possible in the National Parks, this is a topic near and dear to me. But with this blog we’re cutting through the bullshit, focusing only on his actions and how we can respond.

wrapping it up with earthly eco matters

🚙 🚲 making car-free towns a reality: a new 716-acre lakeside development is being constructed outside of Cambridge, UK. Designed for walking and cycling from the start, the town includes bike hire programs, repair workshops, and even social walking groups. This was made possible by many things: strong cycling culture, bike-positive local council, & organized campaigning for better bike facilities.

🌲 🌳 the UK creates a new woodland: the UK government is investing £7.5m to develop a new woodland by planting 20 million trees on 6,178 acres as part of a national forest drive. Trees and forests help with water quality, flood resilience, wildlife, and mental health.

🌱 🌱 large-scale compost program in Florida: a US Department of Agriculture grant + the Miami County Commissioner + a donation from Fertile Earth Worm Farm = The Everglades Earth Cycle, a new large-scale compost project! The program will divert food scraps to the Miccosukee Tribe in the Everglades to use in their community gardens and will contribute to the restoration of the everglades.

🚴 👀 maps to green spaces for bikers: a London-based graphic designer has created a new map for cyclers that shows all of London’s cycle paths and how they’re connected to green spaces and waterways. It’s totally free and helps people get straight to the green stuff. Sometimes it’s the little things.

stay safe & stay sustainable 💚
