I grew up, went to school, had kids, live and own a business in LA. Watching it destroyed is heartbreaking. Especially as each year gets worse.
10 days into the new year we were reminded that every single one of us is affected by climate change. Some of us more than others.
While my family did evacuate - and we’re not in the clear yet - many aren’t as lucky.
Looking at the coverage of the wildfires you can probably name celebrities who lost their homes. Can you say the same for the working moms, dads, cousins, abuelitas, & siblings that also lost theirs?
One of my close friends’ home, and entire street, is completely gone.
Altadena, one of the first neighborhoods where Black folks could purchase homes & presently home to All-American working class families, is decimated.
So no, no newsletter this month. I’m pausing socials as well. I hope to be back in February with the regular content.
In the meantime thank you for being a part of this community contributing to a better world with hopefully fewer natural disasters.
